We are looking to add an experienced labor and employment lawyer to our team. The ideal applicant has a solid background in litigation and/or advising work, a thorough understanding of California's intricate employment laws and regulations, and the capacity to handle rapidly evolving compliance requirements.

Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Employment Attorney to advise employers and employees on workplace law matters, provide strategic counsel, and represent clients in negotiations and disputes. The ideal candidate will have strong employment law experience, excellent advocacy skills, and the ability to manage client relationships and casework across a variety of employment-related issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on federal, state, and local employment laws, policies, and compliance matters.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze case law, and prepare memoranda, briefs, and legal opinions on employment issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, separation agreements, severance packages, and workplace policies.
  • Represent clients in administrative proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and court filings related to discrimination, wage and hour, harassment, and wrongful termination claims.
  • Manage case files, prepare discovery, take and defend depositions, and assist with trial preparation and strategy.
  • Counsel clients on internal investigations, workplace discipline, performance management, and restructuring or downsizing matters.
  • Maintain strong client relationships by providing clear, practical guidance and timely updates on case progress and strategy.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across practice areas (e.g., litigation, environmental law, estate planning) as needed to address multidisciplinary client needs.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of focused employment law experience; experience as an associate in a law firm or in-house employment counsel preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with employment litigation, administrative proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills with experience drafting pleadings, motions, and settlement agreements.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent client counseling and interpersonal skills with a focus on practical, business-minded solutions.
  • Familiarity with environmental law, estate planning, or other practice areas is a plus and will be considered a valuable addition to client service capabilities.
  • Bar admission and ability to travel as required for client meetings, depositions, hearings, and trials.
