We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead core accounting operations for a manufacturing organization in Westbury, New York. This position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented finance leader who can oversee reporting accuracy, strengthen financial controls, and support sound business decisions in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in cost accounting, broad knowledge of day-to-day accounting functions, and the judgment to manage competing priorities with discretion and precision.
Responsibilities:
• Direct accounting activities across payables, receivables, inventory, payroll, tax, and banking functions to ensure accurate and timely financial operations.
• Manage manufacturing-related cost accounting processes, including analysis of production costs, inventory valuation, and financial performance trends.
• Develop, implement, and monitor internal control procedures that protect company assets and support compliance with financial policies.
• Prepare, review, and analyze financial information to provide leadership with clear insights for operational and strategic decision-making.
• Coordinate month-end and year-end close activities while maintaining a high standard of accuracy in detailed financial records and reporting.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to organize financial data, resolve issues efficiently, and keep multiple priorities moving forward on schedule.
• Use accounting systems, spreadsheets, and business software to maintain records, generate reports, and improve the reliability of financial information.
• Handle sensitive financial and organizational information with a high level of discretion and confidentiality.• At least 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibility within a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated strength in cost accounting and managerial accounting principles related to production-based operations.
• Practical experience overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, payroll, income tax matters, and banking activity.
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective internal controls across accounting processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities, with careful attention to detail and deadlines.
• Ability to evaluate situations quickly, make sound decisions under pressure, and manage several projects at the same time.
• Proficiency with accounting software, spreadsheet tools, and word processing applications; experience with Oracle is an advantage.
