Position Overview:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Ophthalmic Technician who enjoys working in a busy private practice where quality patient care comes first.

You'll work closely with our doctors, utilizing your clinical skills to provide comprehensive patient workups, perform diagnostic testing, assist with patient education, and help ensure an exceptional patient experience from check-in through examination.

Responsibilities:

Clinical Patient Care

  • Obtain detailed medical and ocular histories
  • Perform comprehensive patient workups
  • Measure visual acuity
  • Perform autorefraction and keratometry
  • Perform tonometry
  • Assist with refractions and preliminary testing
  • Prepare patients for examination
  • Document findings accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Maintain efficient patient flow throughout the clinic

Diagnostic Testing
Perform or assist with advanced diagnostic testing, including:

  • OCT
  • Visual Fields
  • Retinal Imaging
  • Dry Eye Evaluations
  • Additional ophthalmic testing as needed

Patient Education

  • Explain testing procedures and examination flow
  • Educate patients on treatment plans and follow-up care
  • Answer patient questions with professionalism and compassion
  • Deliver an outstanding patient experience during every visit

Required Qualifications:


Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician, Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA), Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT), or experienced Optometric Technician
  • Experience performing comprehensive patient workups and ophthalmic pre-testing
  • Proficiency with visual acuity testing, tonometry, autorefraction, and ocular history documentation
  • Experience using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
  • Excellent patient communication and customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy in a fast-paced clinical setting
  • Professional, dependable, and team-oriented

Preferred Qualifications:

  • COA or COT Certification
  • Experience with OCT, Visual Fields, Retinal Imaging, and Dry Eye testing
  • Experience assisting with optical sales, frame styling, and lens recommendations
