Job Description

This role operates sit-down forklifts to safely move, load, unload, stack, and organize products, equipment, and materials within a warehouse environment. You contribute directly to efficient seed delivery and returns by handling quality packages, maintaining accurate inventory records with warehouse management systems and RF scanners, and supporting a clean, orderly, and safe facility. You work closely with warehouse supervisors and team leads, follow regulatory and safety requirements, and use basic computer skills to complete daily tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a sit-down forklift professionally and safely, maintaining accident-free performance at all times.
  • Complete and document regular forklift inspections, ensuring equipment is in proper working condition.
  • Perform systematic maintenance and cleaning of the forklift to keep it in optimal operating condition.
  • Use warehouse management systems (WMS) and RF scanners to track the location of goods and ensure accurate data entry during all material handling activities.
  • Push, pull, lift, stack, tier, and move products, equipment, and materials throughout the warehouse as directed.
  • Load and unload trucks and pallets efficiently while protecting product quality and minimizing damage.
  • Keep the warehouse clean, organized, and free of debris to support a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Perform additional manual tasks as directed by the warehouse supervisor or team lead, such as sampling, inventory counts, and general cleaning.
  • During seed delivery and return seasons, ensure proper loading and unloading of transport vehicles with quality packages to meet customer expectations.
  • Follow all safety standards and regulatory requirements, including initiating and following emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Accurately count inventory when moving and organizing products and materials.
  • Read and interpret scales and related measurement tools to support accurate material handling.
  • Use computers and related technology (PCs, scanners, WMS) with mid-level proficiency to complete job tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, and work independently or as part of a team as needed.
  • Operate the forklift alertly and attentively in tighter, confined spaces while maintaining safe practices.
  • Arrive at the work site reliably and on time, prepared to complete scheduled shifts and assigned duties.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, enthusiasm, honesty, and a willingness to treat all colleagues and partners with respect.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and professionally in a warehouse environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Approximately 1 year of forklift operating experience is preferred.
  • Approximately 1 year of warehouse experience is preferred.
  • Prior forklift certification is preferred and may be required depending on local regulations.
  • Experience with inventory control and material handling in a warehouse setting.
  • Comfort using sit-down forklifts with in-depth training provided on site.
  • Familiarity with loading and unloading trucks and pallets in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience using RF scanners and warehouse management systems for inventory tracking.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area while managing multiple tasks.

Work Environment

This position is based in a warehouse environment that uses sit-down forklifts, RF scanners, PCs, and warehouse management systems to manage materials and inventory. The role involves working around stacked products, pallets, trucks, and confined spaces where safe forklift operation is essential. Standard weekly schedules are approximately 40 hours over 5 days with 10-hour shifts, and overtime may be available. Shifts typically run from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., supporting continuous operations. The facility focuses strongly on safety, cleanliness, and organization, with employees expected to help keep the warehouse tidy and follow all emergency and safety procedures. Dress is practical and appropriate for warehouse work, with any required protective gear or equipment provided in alignment with safety policies.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $24.00/hr.
