EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
Blaster
Location: Winnemucca, NV (Winnemucca Road Crew)
Position: Prepare and detonate planned explosive related blasts with correct products, measured quantities, safe application, and effective use of explosives in alignment with Service Operations Manual to meet customer's requirements at locations serviced by WESCO. Lead blast crew and provide on-the-job training.
Experience:
· 1 - 2 years of experience as a Blaster
· 2 years minimum experience in the Drill and Blast Field
Technical Requirements:
· Knowledge of the Dyno Nobel electronic initiation system preferred but not required. On-the-job training provided
· Maintain current blasting licenses along with any certifications required by federal, state and county entities
· Must satisfy the requirements for a “possessor of explosives” as defined by the B.A.T.F.
· Must have a current Driver’s License
· Although the typical schedule is Mon-Thursday applicants must be able to function with non-uniform work schedule (Start and end times vary depending on client location and needs)
Essential Functions:
· Practices behavior consistent with company policies and procedures from applicable technical modules, all company SOP, work site, regulatory and safety policies, and procedures.
· Thorough knowledge of products, product applications, blasting practices, and mining\quarry\construction principles.
· General knowledge and understanding explosives technology, basic geology, and seismology.
· Design the appropriate use of explosives to properly fit the customers.
· Able to manage any unusual blasting scenarios
· Responsible for the day-to-day management of blasting crew, all inventory records, and other appropriate documentation required at site.
· Lead blast crew while providing on-the-job training.
· Safety focused at all times. Report potentially unsafe conditions. Use equipment and materials properly.
· Develop professional relationships with customers. Participate in customer safety processes.
· Understand and enhance service requirements to continually improve customer profitability.
Working Environment: Must be able to work primarily outdoors in all weather conditions of temperature and climate. Must wear personal protective equipment where required. May require lifting of up to 60 lbs.
Schedule: 40 – 50 hours a week. Although the typical schedule is Monday – Thursday, applicants must be able to function with non-uniform work schedule. Start and end times may vary based on customer needs.
Pay: $30 – $35/hour, depending on experience
