DESIGNERS, AND CRAFTSMEN.
Welcome to Tanglewood Conservatories, heirs to a two-hundred-year-old tradition of extraordinary design and craftsmanship. Our work is inspired by the elegant, historic glasshouses of the world. Our craft teams come from the lineage of master shipbuilders who created the beautiful wooden boats of Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay region.
Tanglewood was founded in 1995 by architect-builder and textile design team, Alan and Nancy Virts. Following corporate careers and travel abroad, they became enamored with traditional glass architecture and established Tanglewood with the goal of creating uncommonly unique conservatories that combine historical inspiration with state-of-the-art technology and masterful craftsmanship.
Our expertise is a specialty. Drawing on extensive experience, we custom tailor every design to our client’s site and imagination. Getting each project right – exactly right, is what we do. From initial sketches to finished structure, the process is interactive and collaborative.
Our clients are often surprised and delighted to learn that they have many more choices than they originally thought. Our greatest satisfaction is creating a conservatory that is beautiful, functional, and uniquely yours.
Our employee participate in the excitement of planning, building, and installing exquisite, one-of-a-kind masterpieces.
