Job Description
Carpenter / Laborer
Residential Restoration & Remodeling
Blue Bear Builder · [Olympia Area], WA
About Blue Bear Builder
Blue Bear Builder is a veteran owned Washington general contracting team led by three seasoned GCs with roughly 60 years of combined construction experience. We rebuild homes after insured losses and take on quality remodels and new construction for homeowners across our community. We’re craftsmanship-first, we stand behind our work, and we believe the best crews are built by investing in people. Much of our work happens inside our customers’ homes — often after a difficult loss — so how we represent ourselves in and around someone’s home matters as much as the work itself. We treat every home, and every homeowner, with respect, care, and professionalism, leaving each space better than we found it. If you take pride in doing things right, you’ll fit in here.
Job Summary
We’re looking for a motivated, skilled, and experienced Carpenter to join our team. Requirements include ability to work efficiently and independently as well as with a fast paced professional team. Must have minimum 3 years of carpentry experience. You’ll perform a wide range of carpentry tasks across diverse residential projects — from restoration rebuilds to full remodels — helping us deliver work that’s efficient, safe, and high-quality. This is hands-on work with real variety and room to grow: we provide on-the-job training and mentorship, so you’ll learn from people who’ve spent careers mastering the trade. Because you’ll often be working inside occupied homes, representing Blue Bear Builder with professionalism, courtesy, and respect for the customer’s space and belongings is every bit as important as the quality of your work.
What You’ll Do
- Assist with framing, drywall, trim carpentry, and fixture hanging on residential projects
- Install doors (interior and exterior), windows, trim and base, cabinets, countertops, flooring, tile, and other building elements with precision
- Apply caulking, painting, and finishing touches that reflect quality craftsmanship
- Operate hand and power tools safely and correctly
- Handle physically demanding tasks — loading and unloading tools and materials, hauling materials to the work area, and debris removal
- Follow all safety guidelines and keep a clean, organized job site
What We’re Looking For
- 2-3 year minimum prior experience in construction and remodeling required
- Comfort with hand tools (hammers, saws) and power tools (drills, saws)
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques such as trim and framing carpentry, metal stud framing, and cabinetry installation
- Experience with flooring, base and trim, siding, door and window installation, and restoration rebuilds is an advantage
- Ability to lift heavy materials safely and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods
- A solid understanding of jobsite safety and the ability to follow detailed instructions
- A team player with a proactive, problem-solving attitude who takes pride in their work
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $30–$40 per hour, depending on experience
- Paid sick leave, as provided under Washington state law
- On-the-job training and mentorship from experienced general contractors
- Steady, varied work across restoration and remodeling projects
