Position Overview

Working under the direction of the Medical Director and Nurse Director, the Ophthalmology Nurse Manager is responsible for providing leadership and oversight of clinical operations within an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) specializing in ophthalmology. This role requires expertise in perioperative services and a strong understanding of accredited ASC environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee clinical operations across preoperative, intraoperative, and PACU services.

  • Ensure safe, high-quality patient care while maintaining compliance with clinical standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate nursing and clinical staff, ensuring competency and active licensure compliance.

  • Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia providers to coordinate surgical schedules and improve workflow efficiency.

  • Maintain compliance with AAAHC, OSHA, CMS, HIPAA, and applicable state regulations.

  • Lead Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives, as well as infection prevention and control programs.

  • Manage clinical inventory, supply chain, vendor relationships, and departmental budgets.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain clinical policies, procedures, and emergency preparedness plans.

  • Serve as the liaison between administration and clinical staff to support efficient, patient-centered operations.

  • Participate in management team meetings and organizational planning.

Qualifications
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.

  • Minimum of 3 years of ophthalmology perioperative nursing experience, with leadership experience preferred.

  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

  • Knowledge of AAAHC standards and ASC regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
