Job Description

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing buildings and equipment. This role involves operating machine tools to fabricate and manufacture machine parts while working under the guidance of experienced personnel.

Responsibilities

• Operate fabrication machinery to produce parts used in manufacturing processes.
• Operate manual mills and lathes.
• Read and interpret blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
• Select appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials for machines.
• Examine and measure completed units and parts to identify defects and ensure conformity with specifications; adjust machine controls to correct production errors.
• Inspect machinery for needed repairs and perform minor repairs.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the work area.
• Comply with applicable safety standards and regulations.
• Follow safety guidelines and procedures, including lockout-tagout procedures for production equipment.
• Work on various mechanical systems, including packaging conveyor systems, chain drives, gear boxes, and more.
• Use handheld and diagnostic devices appropriately.
• Handle pneumatic systems, including high-pressure compressed air distribution systems.
• Work with hydraulic systems, including cylinders and pumps.
• Troubleshoot using multimeters and clamp-on amp meters.
• Understand NFPA 70E Arc Flash and PPE requirements, and OSHA requirements including LOTO.
• Perform basic welding, including MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
• Operate scissor lifts, forklifts, and boom lifts as needed.
• Assess equipment failures under pressure, determine root causes, and make effective repairs.
• Prioritize jobs and make critical decisions.
• Demonstrate interest in learning new equipment and be a self-starter.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Troubleshooting skills in maintenance, hydraulics, mechanical, and pneumatics.
• Preventive maintenance expertise.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence, and memos.
• Effective presentation skills for small group settings.
• Mathematical skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Electrical troubleshooting skills.
• Knowledge of blueprint reading and welding.
• Understanding of lockout and tag-out procedures.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; technical coursework preferred.
• Vocational/technical school training and apprenticeship required.
• Positive and progressive PLC experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications, especially Outlook, Word, and Excel.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively at all levels.
• Understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Good mechanical aptitude and ability to self-direct activities and prioritize tasks.

Work Environment

The work environment involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, and varying temperatures. Employees must respond quickly to sounds, navigate uneven terrain or confined spaces, and climb ladders while carrying up to 40 pounds. Personal protective gear must be worn correctly while working.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Salt Lake, UT.

The pay range for this position is $25.75 - $40.72/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in South Salt Lake,UT.
