Job Description
Job Purpose
The End Welder shall operate in the functions of welding metal slitted material in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Responsible for the setup and operation of mill entry, Flatteners, End Welder Machine and Accumulator.
• Responsible for cross weld quality
• Responsible for coil edge condition.
• Remove rough spots from work pieces, using portable grinders, hand files, or scrapers.
• Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
• Review work orders and specifications to determine materials needed to be processed.
• Handling and Moving Objects - Using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials, and manipulating things.
• Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
• Responsible for performing routine PM of equipment.
• Monitoring and reviewing information from materials, events, or the environment, to detect or assess problems.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Competencies
• Education:
o High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Years of Experience:
o 1 year experience in welding.
• Job Knowledge:
o At least Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe industry is preferable.
o Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
o Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, hand tools and hand held technical devices.
o Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and welding operation.
o Use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components.
• Personal Competencies:
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Employees must be able to work with a flexible schedule, which may require over-time.
• Safety:
o Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
• Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
• The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
• The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
• The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
• The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
• The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
• The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
• Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
• Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
