Job Description
An established agricultural construction and solutions provider is seeking an experienced Agricultural Business Development Manager to develop customer relationships and sell construction projects throughout the central Midwest. This is a consultative sales position for someone who already understands livestock production and can communicate confidently with farm owners, ranch managers, and agricultural decision-makers. You will help producers evaluate their operational needs, develop practical project solutions, and coordinate with internal sales and estimating teams throughout the sales process. The ideal candidate may come from animal health territory sales, agricultural equipment or facility sales, or hands-on farm and ranch management. This could also be an excellent transition for an experienced producer or operations manager who wants to step away from the daily demands of running an operation while continuing to work closely with the agricultural community.

What You Will Do
  • Develop and maintain relationships with livestock producers and other agricultural customers.
  • Sell agricultural construction projects and related facility solutions throughout a multi-state territory.
  • Meet with customers to understand their operations, challenges, future plans, and facility needs.
  • Identify new opportunities within existing accounts and develop relationships with prospective customers.
  • Partner with estimating, sales, and project teams to develop competitive and customer-focused proposals.
  • Help shape annual territory sales plans, revenue goals, and account development strategies.
  • Provide internal teams with insight into customer priorities, market conditions, and industry trends.
  • Review project opportunities, pricing considerations, and margin expectations with estimating and leadership.
  • Present proposed solutions and clearly communicate the value of recommended projects.
  • Maintain consistent follow-up throughout a longer, relationship-driven sales cycle.
  • Represent the customer’s perspective internally while balancing project feasibility and company objectives.
  • Review engineering drawings, project specifications, measurements, and other technical information.
  • Manage several customer opportunities and active projects at the same time.
  • Travel throughout the territory to meet with customers and visit agricultural operations.
What You Need
  • Direct knowledge of livestock production, animal care, or agricultural operations.
  • Experience working with cattle, dairy, swine, poultry, or a closely related agricultural market.
  • Previous success in agricultural sales, territory management, business development, or farm and ranch management.
  • Ability to communicate credibly with producers and understand the realities of operating an agricultural business.
  • Strong relationship-building and consultative selling skills.
  • Ability to manage strategic accounts while continuing to develop new business.
  • Comfortable discussing large projects, operational needs, pricing, and long-term investments.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 45% throughout the central Midwest, with occasional travel outside the primary territory as customer opportunities arise.
  • Ability to travel during the week without regular weekend requirements.
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings or the aptitude to develop that skill.
  • Solid mathematical and measurement skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, agriculture, animal science, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Company-provided vehicle.
  • Company gas card & Reimbursement of business travel expenses.
  • Full-time, direct-hire opportunity.
  • No routine weekend travel.
  • Opportunity to manage a large territory
  • Health, Vision, & Dental Plans
  • 401K w/ company match
