SUMMARY

Perform NDT Level II inspections in compliance with customer work instructions, and AAR procedures and policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Record all inspection functions on applicable paperwork in accordance with the customer policies and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable of the cleaning and any other necessary preparation of parts before or after inspection.
  • Be proficient in setting up and conducting Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) of Aircraft and Components.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to set-up and standardize equipment, process parts, interpret and evaluate for acceptance or rejection, and document results.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the technique/method.
  • Have the skills and knowledge to conduct system performance checks in accordance with the applicable process standard.
  • When specified in the written practice, be capable of developing work instructions from approved general procedures; such work instructions shall require final approval by a level III certified in the method.
  • Have the basic knowledge of relevant product manufacturing and inspection technology.
  • When specified in the written practice, have a basic knowledge of aircraft or vehicle maintenance.


In addition to the above noted Level I duties:

  • Qualified to direct and carry out tests in the method certified.
  • Able to perform pre-test setup, read and interpret indications and evaluate them with reference to applicable standards and specifications to make Accept/Reject disposition as required.
  • Thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the method and will have the ability to apply detailed techniques to aircraft or parts within qualifications.
  • Able to organize and report test results, have knowledge of practical theory and be familiar with NDT manuals and source books for assistance in utilizing techniques.
  • Must be aware of the need for reference standards.
  • Be familiar with the type and location of expected defects.
  • Capable of providing the necessary guidance and/or supervision to Level I NDT Inspectors.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB:

  • Level II certification for one or more applicable NDT disciplines.
  • Ability to correctly use one or more types of applicable NDT equipment.
  • 3-4 years experience in aircraft NDT.
  • Familiar with aircraft manufacturer's technical documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret AD's, S/B's, SRM's, industry NDT specifications and other work instructions.
  • Familiar with regulatory requirements of FAR 145 repair station.
  • FAA A&P License preferred.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
