Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Board Certified or Board Eligible Gastroenterologists for an ongoing locum tenens opportunity in Topeka, Kansas. Schedule
Providers will participate in a structured weekly schedule balancing endoscopy, outpatient procedures, and inpatient consultative care.
Typical weekly workflow includes:

• Monday
  • Inpatient procedures and consults
  • 8:30 AM – 1:00 PM
• Tuesday – Thursday
  • Outpatient procedures
  • 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
  • Followed by inpatient responsibilities through approximately 1:00 PM
• Friday
  • Inpatient procedures and consults
  • 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM

Additional procedures may be performed later in the day as clinical needs require.

Call Responsibilities
Physicians participate in a shared GI call rotation supporting a regional referral practice.
Call includes:

• Inpatient gastroenterology consults
• Emergency endoscopy coverage
• Hospital admissions and transfers requiring GI expertise
• Weekend inpatient coverage

Weekday call begins following completion of scheduled procedures and continues through the following morning.

Weekend call extends from Saturday morning through Monday morning.
The client anticipates utilizing two physicians to provide approximately half-year coverage each, creating an attractive long-term scheduling model.

Clinical Scope
Provide comprehensive gastroenterology care across inpatient and outpatient environments, including:

• Diagnostic upper endoscopy (EGD)
• Colonoscopy
• Inpatient gastroenterology consultation
• Gastrointestinal bleeding evaluation
• Emergency endoscopic procedures
• General gastroenterology procedures
• Hospital-based digestive disease management
• Coordination of care with multidisciplinary specialists

Physicians with advanced endoscopy experience are encouraged to apply, although advanced training is not required.

Patient Volume
Typical daily workload includes:

• Approximately 8 endoscopic procedures per day
• Approximately 7 inpatient consultations per day

This balanced volume allows physicians to focus on delivering high-quality digestive healthcare while maintaining an efficient daily workflow.

• Two dedicated hospital-based Gastroenterology Advanced Practice Providers

Candidate Requirements

• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
• Active Kansas medical license (or ability to obtain)
• Current DEA registration

• Experience performing general endoscopic procedures
• Advanced endoscopy training welcomed but not required
