Earn $19 Per Hour

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely operate a school bus on assigned routes (regular, spare, or charter)

  • Read and follow route sheets, maps, street signs, and electronic routing devices

  • Perform thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, including required child safety checks

  • Assist students with boarding and unloading, including operating wheelchair lifts when needed

  • Maintain a safe, orderly environment through effective student management

  • Communicate professionally with school staff, parents, and students

  • Attend required safety meetings and training sessions

  • Conduct emergency evacuations when necessary, including use of emergency exits

  • Clean and maintain the bus interior (sweeping, dusting, windows) and exterior windows

  • Perform additional duties or specialized functions as required


Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred

  • Valid operator’s license with required endorsements and applicable state/local permits

  • Strong verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work early morning hours

  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision

  • Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward coworkers, students, and customers

  • Professional appearance appropriate for a business environment

  • Ability to follow company policies and procedures consistently

  • Comfortable using or learning technology, including routing devices, internet-based tools, and basic office equipment


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Ability to pass and maintain DOT physical and comply with a drug-free workplace policy

  • Ability to assist with emergency evacuations, including moving up to 120 lbs (dragging) when necessary

  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (equipment, bus components, or assisting passengers)

  • Frequent walking, climbing, and movement (bus steps, lot navigation, inspections)

  • Sitting for extended periods (2–3 hours at a time while driving)

  • Reaching, gripping, and operating vehicle controls (doors, brakes, steering, mirrors)

  • Ability to hear and identify safety concerns (passenger activity, vehicle sounds, emergency signals)

  • Ability to read street signs, route sheets, and safety instructions

  • Ability to communicate clearly in English with students, parents, school staff, and dispatch

  • Ability to safely exit through emergency doors when required
