TX-STAR Speech Language Services works alongside Texas school districts to help students access the specialized services they need within the educational setting. We are hiring Physical Therapists for school-based assignments in San Antonio and nearby communities.
This opportunity is a strong fit for clinicians who enjoy helping students build functional movement skills, participate safely in school routines, and become more independent throughout the school day.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As a school-based Physical Therapist, you will assess how physical and motor needs affect a student's access to education and provide services designed to improve participation in classroom and campus activities.
In this role, you will:
- Evaluate gross motor abilities, balance, coordination, positioning, mobility, and functional access within the school environment
- Plan and deliver physical therapy interventions connected to each student's Individualized Education Program
- Develop individualized service plans based on assessment results, educational priorities, and student needs
- Assist students with safely participating in classroom routines, transitions, and campus activities
- Recommend adaptive equipment, mobility supports, positioning techniques, accommodations, and environmental changes
- Coordinate with educators, families, special education teams, and other related-service providers
- Review student progress regularly and revise therapy strategies when goals or functional needs change
- Provide services on campus or through teletherapy when permitted by the assignment and district
- Prepare timely evaluation reports, progress updates, service logs, and other required records
- Attend ARD and IEP meetings to communicate findings and contribute therapy-related recommendations
Qualifications for This Position
- Active and unrestricted Texas Physical Therapy license
- Physical Therapy degree earned through an accredited program
- Familiarity with IEP implementation, special education procedures, and educationally relevant therapy services
- Ability to organize and manage assessments, student schedules, service delivery, and documentation independently
- Effective teamwork skills for collaborating with families, school personnel, and multidisciplinary professionals
- Strong written communication, clinical documentation, organization, and time-management skills
- Pediatric or school-based Physical Therapy experience is preferred
