Senior Cost Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Cost Accountant to join a growing team. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the company’s cost accounting functions, ensuring accurate cost analysis, budgeting, and financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead cost accounting team and processes
• Lead all cost accounting functions, including product costing, inventory valuation, variance analysis, and standard cost management.
• Prepare and analyze monthly inventory and cost reports, ensuring financial data is complete, accurate, and timely.
• Investigate manufacturing and inventory variances, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop, maintain, and update standard costs while monitoring the accuracy of cost structures across product lines.
• Review pricing and production costs to ensure appropriate cost-to-price relationships and profitability.
• Evaluate job costing for both work-in-process and completed production to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts related to inventory, manufacturing costs, and production activity.
• Partner with operations and production teams to identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
• Manage the annual inventory audit process and provide support for external auditors during year-end financial audits.
• Oversee inventory purchasing audits and maintain strong internal controls surrounding inventory transactions.
• Participate in special projects and financial initiatives as assigned by leadership.

Experience

• Proven accounting experience within the manufacturing industry or a similar sector emphasizing cost management.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance is a must
• Previous supervisory experience strongly preferred
• Proficiency with accounting software such as SAP, Oracle, SAGE Intacct, Epicor, or similar strongly preferred
• Strong data analysis skills utilizing spreadsheets (Excel)
