Job Description
Paralegal – Criminal Litigation (Federal Agency Contract)
Location: Knoxville, TN
One of our federal agency clients is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Paralegals to support its Criminal Prosecution and Litigation team in Knoxville, TN. This is a long-term contract opportunity with an initial one-year term and multiple option years, offering stability and the opportunity to gain valuable experience in a federal legal environment.
This position is ideal for candidates with strong organizational skills, legal document preparation experience, and an interest in supporting federal criminal litigation.
Key Responsibilities
- Examine, prepare, and process a variety of technical legal documents.
- Review incoming case materials and determine the need for assembly and preparation of legal documents, including complaints, motions, orders, answers, pleadings, and subpoenas.
- Obtain necessary information from case files, law enforcement agencies, and other sources to support legal proceedings.
- Prepare completed legal documents for attorney review and submission while considering the nature and status of each case.
- With limited attorney guidance, prepare legal documents such as:
- Indictments
- Criminal complaints
- Search warrants
- Judgments
- Applications
- Notices
- Affidavits
- Summonses
- Grand jury subpoenas
- Rules to show cause
- Proofs of claim
- Satisfaction of judgment
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure confidentiality of sensitive legal information.
- Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys throughout the prosecution process.
Qualifications
- Previous paralegal or legal support experience required.
- Experience with criminal law, litigation, or government legal offices is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal document management systems.
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $25.00 per hour
