Staff Accountant – Individual Tax Experience

Location: Richmond, VA (Onsite)
Compensation: $70,000–$80,000 annually

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant with strong individual tax experience to join a growing team in Richmond, VA. This position is fully onsite and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment supporting both tax preparation and general accounting functions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review individual tax returns (primarily 1040s)
• Assist with tax planning and compliance activities
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and maintain accurate financial records
• Support month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare journal entries and financial reports
• Communicate with clients regarding tax documentation and accounting inquiries
• Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations
• Assist with bookkeeping and additional accounting projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred
• 4+ years of accounting and individual tax preparation experience
• Strong knowledge of 1040 tax returns
• Experience with accounting and tax software preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Excellent communication and client service abilities
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Preferred Experience

• Exposure to business tax returns (1120s, 1065s) is a plus
• Public accounting or CPA firm experience preferred
