Position Overview

The Infant Lead Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care for infants while ensuring full compliance with Michigan Child Care Licensing regulations. This role requires consistency, emotional attunement, and strong communication skills. The Infant Lead Teacher works closely with the Program Director to maintain classroom excellence, staff accountability, and family trust.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide warm, responsive, and individualized care that supports infants’ physical, emotional, and cognitive development
     

  • Follow all safe sleep, feeding, and diapering procedures in compliance with Michigan licensing standards
     

  • Maintain constant supervision and required caregiver-to-child ratios
     

  • Create and maintain a clean, organized, and calming classroom environment
     

  • Observe, document, and report developmental milestones and daily activities
     

  • Complete daily reports and communicate clearly with families
     

  • Follow center policies, procedures, and guidance from the Program Director
     

  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development
     

  • Immediately report concerns related to health, safety, or compliance to the Program Director
     

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
     

  • High school diploma or GED required
     

  • Infant/Toddler CDA or ECE coursework preferred
     

  • Previous infant classroom experience preferred
     

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
     

  • Must meet all Michigan Child Care Center licensing requirements
