We are seeking a compassionate and detail‐oriented Pharmacy Technician to join our team. Overview
The Pharmacy Technician participates in all aspects of filling prescriptions, clerical work, and compliance with pharmacy regulations. They interact directly with patients, coordinate medication practices, and support integrated healthcare services.
Essential Functions
- Maintain and update patient profiles and prescription files.
- Enter prescriptions into the electronic system accurately.
- Fill prescriptions and coordinate auto‐refills.
- Prepare packages for shipping and delivery.
- File prescriptions and paperwork.
- Ensure compliance with 340B, State Board of Pharmacy, and DEA requirements.
- Answer and return patient calls, manage voicemail.
- Communicate with insurance companies and manufacturers to resolve coverage issues, initiate prior authorizations, and activate co‐pay cards.
- Document in appropriate databases.
- Manage billing, cash register, and daily reconciliation.
- Reorder and restock medications, verify invoices.
- Process returns and expired medications.
- Attend department and team meetings.
- Participate in clean‐up and scheduled drug inventories.
- Collaborate with other departments to promote integrated patient care.
- Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and professional conduct.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid Pharmacy Technician license from the CA Board of Pharmacy.
- Healthcare experience or education.
- Basic computer skills, including EMR systems and Windows Explorer.
- Spanish language skills preferred.
- Experience with HIV and sexual health medications.
- Familiarity with the 340B program preferred.
