Custodian / Cleaning Staff

Overview

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean and sanitary environment in the gym. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, as the custodian must ensure that all areas of the gym are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, as well as be able to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

We are actively seeking 2 additional staff to join our janitorial team. We require availability Wednesday-Saturday 10am-2pm and/or Friday-Monday 9pm-4am.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all areas of the gym, including locker rooms, bathrooms, showers, and exercise equipment

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors

• Clean windows, mirrors, and other surfaces as needed

• Empty trash and recycling bins and dispose of waste properly

• Restock supplies, such as paper towels, soap, and toilet paper

• Notify management of any equipment in need of repair or replacement

• Follow all safety protocols and use cleaning chemicals safely and appropriately

• Work collaboratively with other staff members to ensure a clean and safe environment for all gym members and visitors

• Perform additional cleaning duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Previous experience in janitorial or housekeeping roles preferred

• Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and equipment

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Strong attention to detail and time management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Physical ability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment and supplies

• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as needed

Physical Demands

This role requires a significant amount of physical activity, including standing, walking, lifting, and bending. The Gym Custodian must be able to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds, and be able to perform cleaning tasks for extended periods of time.

Work Environment

The Custodian will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment. The role may involve working mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Requires working in close proximity to gym members and visitors.
