Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry / Cardio Thoracic

Location

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Full-Time | Days | 12-Hour Shifts (0700–1930) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 70-bed Cardio Thoracic unit serving patients with diagnoses including MI, CHF, atrial fibrillation, COPD, pacemaker/AICD placement, lung surgeries with chest tubes, esophagectomy, and general medical overflow
• Perform continuous EKG monitoring, interpret telemetry strips, and collaborate with monitor techs utilizing Philips monitoring equipment
• Titrate drips including Cardizem and heparin per unit protocols
• Manage patients on CPAP, BiPAP (home regimen), and heated high-flow oxygen as indicated
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5 on days, working alongside Patient Care Technicians
• Float to other general medical units as needed and participate in rotating weekend and holiday schedules

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency in EKG interpretation
• Experience with medication titration and drip management
• Competency in all basic nursing skills applicable to an acute care telemetry/cardio thoracic setting
• Ability to pass a drug screen; must comply with a drug-free campus policy

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Current ACLS certification
• Prior experience in a telemetry, cardio thoracic, or cardiac step-down unit
• Familiarity with chest tube management and post-surgical cardiac or thoracic patient populations
