Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (18:45–07:15) | 36 Hours per Week | Every Other Weekend Required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Neuro ICU setting within a comprehensive stroke center, managing patient populations including ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, craniotomies, seizures, and post-neurosurgical cases
• Manage and monitor external ventricular drains (EVD), lumbar drains, Camino ICP monitoring, and other specialized neuro critical care equipment
• Administer and manage continuous IV sedation, blood products, and central line care
• Interpret and manage cardiac dysrhythmias and perform CVA/acute stroke management
• Operate specialized equipment including LICOX, NICOM, and Arctic Sun
• Float within or near the facility as needed per unit requirements; maintain patient ratios of 2:1, with ability to flex to 3:1 during high census

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience specifically in a Neuro ICU setting; general ICU experience alone does not meet this requirement
• Strong neuro critical care background with demonstrated experience in stroke patient management
• Proficiency in ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with IV starts, central line care, ICP monitoring, EVDs, and lumbar drains
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications required
• Active NC RN license or valid Compact RN license

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with arterial line management
• Familiarity with EPIC, Pyxis, and SBAR documentation systems
