Registered Nurse – CVICU (Rapid Response / Travel Contract)

North Charleston, SC

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM | Three 12-hour shifts per week, including every other weekend | 6-Week Assignment | 48 Hours

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for up to 1–3 ICU patients in a 28-bed mixed ICU setting, maintaining patient ratios of 1:2 to 1:3
• Care for post-operative cardiac surgery patients (e.g., post-op day 0 CABG) and manage advanced hemodynamic monitoring devices including Impella, balloon pumps, and Swan-Ganz catheters
• Manage patients on mechanical ventilation and perform CRRT as needed; administer respiratory treatments including inhalers and nebulizers outside the ICU
• Conduct bedside shift report for every patient at each transfer of care and demonstrate proficiency in reading telemetry strips
• Support neuro ICU procedures including care for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage patients, EVDs, bolts (Codman), and Arctic Sun induced hypothermia
• Float to the emergency department or PCU as needed to care for PCU or ICU hold patients per unit floating policy

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum of 36 months RN experience with at least 12 months in an ICU setting
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale certifications (must be included in submission packet)
• Ability to manage ventilated patients and perform bedside shift report on every patient
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting telemetry strips
• Prior CVICU experience required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• At least one previous successful travel nursing assignment, preferably at a facility utilizing Meditech documentation system
• BSN degree and advanced nursing certifications (e.g., TNCC) preferred
• Experience with advanced skills including CRRT, advanced hemodynamics, phlebotomy, EVDs, and Arctic Sun hypothermia protocol
• Experience with head and neck flap procedure patients
