THE POSITION

County Caseworker 2 positions with Lycoming County Children and Youth Services provide a meaningful way to support families in times of need. This role allows you to work directly with children and caregivers as they navigate important challenges. You will be part of a strong team that encourages growth and values community well-being. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on assessing service referrals and ensuring safety for families entering the child welfare system. As a County Caseworker 2, you will perform the following duties:

  • Referral Processing: Review service requests and determine appropriate actions
  • Family Assessment: Conduct short term evaluations through interviews, home visits and collateral contacts
  • Safety Checks: Complete required in home visits to evaluate safety, permanency and well being
  • Risk Determination: Assess risks of harm and begin protective steps when safety cannot be ensured
  • Record Keeping: Document contacts and service activities in State or Joinder systems
  • Client Support: Help clients apply strengths and resources to meet personal and family needs

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Six months of experience as a County Caseworker 1; or
  • Successful completion of the County Social Casework Intern program; or
  • A bachelor's degree with a social welfare major; or
  • A bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences and one year of professional social casework experience in a public or private social service agency; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within two months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.

Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
