DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position helps protect public health by supporting statewide Safe Drinking Water Program operations through assessments, compliance work and technical guidance. It ensures consistent implementation of rules, procedures and data practices across the program. As a Water Program Specialist, you will perform the following duties:

• Program Assessment: Develop and evaluate surveillance, compliance, and enforcement activities for statewide drinking water operations
• Regulation Development: Create and update rules, policies, and procedures related to water system monitoring and reporting
• Data Review: Audit information in PADWIS and eFACTS to identify issues and recommend corrections
• Technical Training: Teach field staff and regulated parties proper techniques and requirements for program compliance
• Report Preparation: Prepare analyses and activity reports that identify trends and propose improvements
• Public Engagement: Represent the Commonwealth at meetings and explain state and federal regulations to various audiences

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• This position requires travel
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 3 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Three years of professional environmental protection experience; and a bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes three years of professional environmental protection experience.
