Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Controller to support a contract opportunity based in Longmeadow, Massachusetts. This position will oversee core accounting operations while also managing payroll, benefits administration, insurance renewals, and selected human resources activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong financial leadership, ensure timely reporting and close processes, and help maintain accurate day-to-day financial records.
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily accounting activities, including oversight of accounts payable and accounts receivable to maintain accurate and timely transaction processing.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and related reports, ensuring leadership has clear insight into business performance.
• Lead the month-end close process by reviewing account activity, posting journal entries, and reconciling balances.
• Administer payroll operations with a high level of accuracy, ensuring employees are paid correctly and on schedule.
• Coordinate employee benefits enrollment and support ongoing administration of benefit programs.
• Manage insurance renewal activities by gathering required documentation, working with brokers or carriers, and tracking policy deadlines.
• Support human resources administration through record maintenance, employee documentation, and coordination of routine HR processes.
• Assist with annual audit preparation by organizing financial schedules, responding to requests, and supporting external auditors.
• Analyze financial results and investigate budget-to-actual differences to identify key drivers and reporting insights.
• Experience serving in a Controller or senior-level accounting capacity with broad responsibility across finance operations.
• Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close procedures.
• Background in monthly financial reporting, journal entry preparation, and account reconciliation.
• Familiarity with benefits administration, insurance renewals, and general human resources support functions.
• Ability to contribute to annual external audit activities and provide accurate supporting documentation.
• Experience performing variance analysis and translating financial data into meaningful business information.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and discretion when handling financial and employee-related information.
