Job Description
Make a significant impact in the educational journey of students as an Affective Needs Special Education Teacher. Working full-time on location at an elementary school in the North Denver area, you’ll provide vital support to a single campus and serve a focused caseload of students with special educational requirements.
Responsibilities include creating a supportive and structured classroom environment for students ages 5-21 with affective needs, developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), collaborating with other educational professionals, and maintaining active communication with families. Your expertise will help promote both academic achievement and social-emotional growth.
Ideal candidates will possess:
- A valid Colorado teaching license with Special Education Generalist endorsement (ages 5-21)
- Experience supporting students with affective needs or similar populations
- Familiarity with IEP processes and compliance requirements
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive learning environment
- Ability to fulfill district-required credentialing in a timely manner
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver direct instruction tailored to students’ affective and academic needs
- Develop, monitor, and document IEP goals and progress
- Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
- Provide behavior management strategies and interventions as needed
- Participate in team meetings and ongoing professional development
- Maintain compliance with district and state regulations
This assignment is full-time (37.5 hours/week) with an anticipated start as soon as credentialing is complete and extends through October 2nd. You will be placed at a single elementary school for the duration of the contract.
