Embark on a fulfilling opportunity supporting students as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist in a vibrant educational setting. This contract role seeks 2 dedicated DHH Interpreters who are passionate about making a daily difference for young learners. You’ll work full-time, Monday through Friday, engaging with Pre-K and elementary students and collaborating with educators to foster accessibility and inclusivity in the classroom.

Ideal candidates will demonstrate expertise in interpreting and supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Experience within school environments and a collaborative approach to serving young, diverse learners will help you thrive in this role.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modes used by students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • State or nationally recognized interpreter certification (such as EIPA, RID, or BEI), preferred or required by state regulations
  • Prior experience interpreting in K-12 settings, specifically with early childhood and elementary populations
  • Strong interpersonal and advocacy skills, working cooperatively with educational staff and families
  • Commitment to supporting students’ communication, social, and academic growth

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpreting services for Deaf or Hard of Hearing students in Pre-K and elementary classrooms
  • Collaborate with general and special education teachers to adapt materials and communication
  • Facilitate effective communication between students, peers, and staff
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Foster an inclusive environment that supports language and learning access for all students
