Job SummaryIn this role, you will set up, operate, and maintain CNC machinery to produce high-quality parts that meet engineering specifications and customer requirements. You will interpret blueprints, make machine adjustments, perform minor programming edits, and verify quality using precision measuring tools. Success in this position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints, job specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Set up and operate CNC mills and lathes according to production requirements.
- Load programs, adjust offsets, configure tooling, and perform machine changeovers.
- Make minor edits to CNC programs and save revisions accurately.
- Verify product quality using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring equipment.
- Monitor machine operations to identify defects, dimensional inaccuracies, or equipment issues.
- Perform routine machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and minor component replacement.
- Set stops, guides, and tooling to ensure accurate dimensions and repeatable results.
- Measure and inspect parts throughout the machining process to maintain quality standards.
- Remove burrs, sharp edges, rust, and scale using powered hand tools.
- Safely operate hoists and cranes to move materials and finished products.
- Assist with riveting and spot welding as required.
- Package, label, and transport finished materials to designated areas.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- Collaborate with teammates and supervisors to achieve production goals.
- Complete training on first shift before transitioning to an assigned shift.
- High school diploma or GED.
- 1 to 2 years of CNC machining experience preferred, or completion of a Machine Tool Technology program or equivalent technical training.
- Experience operating CNC mills and/or CNC lathes in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
- Experience using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
- Understanding of CNC machining processes, including milling, turning, and grinding operations.
- Familiarity with CNC controls, G-code, and M-code concepts.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor machine issues and perform program adjustments.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to work safely in a fast-paced production environment.
- Technical college Machine Tool Technology certification or equivalent training.
- Experience in a job shop or high-mix manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with Siemens CNC controls.
- Grinding and secondary machining experience.
- Experience with riveting and spot welding.
- Willingness to learn multiple workstations and cross-train.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work overtime and occasional Saturdays when needed.
Multiple shift opportunities are available:
2nd Shift- Monday through Friday
- 3:30 PM to 10:30 PM
- Paid for 8 hours while working 7 hours
- Shift differential included
- Overtime available, with potential schedules up to approximately 50 hours per week
- Occasional Saturday work
- Monday through Friday
- 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM
- Higher shift differential
- Overtime available until 8:30 AM when scheduled
- Occasional Saturday work
Training: All new hires will complete 4 to 8 weeks of training on day shift before moving to their assigned schedule.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Lexington, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $50814.00 - $55895.00/yr.
