Nuclear Medicine Technologist (PET)
Location: Houston, TX
Pay Rate: Starting at $53.00/hour
Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM and Saturday 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM (8-hour shifts with a 1-hour lunch break)
Dean's Professional Services is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and patient-focused Nuclear Medicine Technologist with strong PET imaging experience to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled imaging professional who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while performing advanced Nuclear Medicine and PET procedures in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality Nuclear Medicine and PET imaging procedures for inpatient and outpatient populations.
- Prepare, administer, and document radiopharmaceuticals while following physician orders and established radiation safety guidelines.
- Perform patient assessments, interviews, IV insertions, point-of-care testing (POCT), and patient education before and after imaging procedures.
- Ensure patient safety by adhering to ALARA radiation safety principles, infection prevention standards, and HIPAA regulations.
- Screen patients for implanted devices and imaging contraindications to ensure safe exam completion.
- Monitor patients throughout imaging procedures, recognizing changes in condition and responding appropriately during emergencies.
- Produce diagnostic-quality images while maintaining proper positioning, imaging protocols, and documentation.
- Operate, maintain, and perform quality assurance on Nuclear Medicine, PET, and related imaging equipment.
- Accurately document patient information and imaging data within RIS, PACS, and other electronic systems.
- Assist with CT procedures as assigned and support efficient patient workflow.
- Maintain Hot Lab compliance, monitor radioactive materials, and ensure proper handling and disposal of radioactive waste.
- Collaborate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver exceptional patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, continuing education, and departmental meetings while supporting students and fellow technologists.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Current ARRT (N) or NMTCB certification required.
- Current Texas Medical Board Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) license required.
- Current CPR certification required.
- Minimum 1 year of Nuclear Medicine/PET imaging experience required.
- Strong hands-on PET imaging experience required.
- CT imaging experience preferred.
- Additional certifications such as PET, ACLS, PALS/PEARS, ARRT, or NMTCB specialty credentials are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of radiation safety, ALARA principles, Nuclear Medicine protocols, and electronic imaging systems.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and patient care skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.
