Direct Care Worker

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist clients with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Support clients with mobility and physical activities, including transfers and exercises.
• Administer medications as prescribed and monitor clients for any side effects.
• Prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
• Perform light housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and safe environment.
• Provide companionship and engage clients in meaningful activities.
• Monitor and report any changes in clients’ health or behavior to the supervisor.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
• Follow care plans and protocols to ensure consistent and effective care.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (HHA) preferred.
• Previous experience in a caregiving role is an asset.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle physical demands of the job, including lifting and assisting clients.
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help others.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license may be required.

Working Conditions:

• Work may involve exposure to various health conditions and environments.
• Shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be able to handle stressful situations and respond to emergencies calmly.
