Key qualifications and skills:
- Current licensure as a Special Education Teacher with Physical and Health Disabilities (P/HD) endorsement
- Experience supporting students with physical impairments in an educational setting
- Strong background in functional evaluation and development of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Understanding of assistive technology and classroom accessibility solutions
- Proficiency with due process management and compliance
- Outstanding communication and collaboration abilities
- Capacity to consult with multi-disciplinary teams, including occupational and physical therapists, and general education staff
- Flexibility to work across K-12 grade levels as an itinerant specialist
- Commitment to fostering inclusive educational experiences for all students
Primary responsibilities:
- Provide consultative services related to curriculum modifications, accessibility, and assistive technology
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations and develop, implement, and monitor IEPs
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and staff to ensure students’ diverse needs are met
- Offer ongoing support and expertise to school teams and families regarding physical and health disabilities
- Track student progress and maintain rigorous due process records
- Serve as a resource for best practices related to inclusion and student independence
