Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist, supporting students along the Southeast Texas Coast. In this vital role, you'll work part-time (approximately 20 hours per week) during the academic year from August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. This position answers an urgent demand in a region with very few specialists, where your expertise can make a significant difference in children's lives.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification
  • AVCREP or equivalent certification required
  • Experience working in school settings or with school-aged children preferred
  • Ability to complete Texas fingerprinting and background check requirements promptly
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to supporting students’ independence and access to their educational environment

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver orientation and mobility services to students as assigned (specific caseload details to be finalized)
  • Provide individualized assessments and write progress reports
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, school staff, and administrators
  • Develop and implement individualized goals, ensuring students' safety and independence
  • Educate staff and families on orientation and mobility concepts and best practices
  • Travel between campuses as needed to meet student needs
