Job Description
Step into a pivotal part-time role where your expertise as an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) will fill a critical gap for students on the Southeast Texas Coast. This contract opportunity begins on August 3, 2026, and continues through May 28, 2027, providing services approximately 20 hours each week. You’ll work across one or more school sites, supporting students in their journey toward greater independence and confidence in daily navigation.

Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing student needs and developing individualized O&M plans.
- Instructing students across a range of ages on safe, effective travel techniques in classroom, school, and outdoor settings.
- Collaborating with special education teams and family members to ensure consistent reinforcement and progress.
- Documenting progress, preparing reports, and participating in IEP meetings as needed.
- Serving as a valued resource for staff in the implementation of mobility strategies.
Qualifications:
- Current and active Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification.
- AVCREP certification or an equivalent credential.
- Previous experience in a school setting strongly preferred.
- Candidates must be able to complete Texas fingerprinting and credentialing processes promptly.
- Strong communication skills and commitment to student success.
