About this job

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Install, program, test, inspect, service, and repair fire alarm systems, including control panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and related components.

  • Install, inspect, test, maintain, and service fire suppression systems (such as clean agent, pre-action, dry/wet sprinkler interfaces, or special hazard systems, as applicable).

  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnostics to identify system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.

  • Ensure all work complies with NFPA standards, local AHJ requirements, manufacturer specifications, and company policies.

  • Complete accurate documentation, including inspection reports, service tickets, time entries, and deficiency reports.

  • Interface professionally with customers, general contractors, inspectors, and AHJs.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.

  • Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and other partners to ensure timely project completion.

  • Maintain tools, test equipment, and company vehicles in safe working condition.

  • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to emergency service calls as required.

  • Mentor and provide guidance to apprentices and less-experienced technicians.

  • Adhere to all safety requirements, including OSHA regulations and company safety programs.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications:  
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Journeyman-level experience in fire alarm and/or fire suppression systems.

  • Applicable state or local Journeyman license or certification (where required).

  • Working knowledge of NFPA codes (including but not limited to NFPA 72, NFPA 13, and applicable suppression standards).

  • Ability to program and service common fire alarm and suppression system manufacturers.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents and technical drawings.

  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

  • NICET certification (Level II or higher) in Fire Alarm Systems and/or Special Hazards Suppression preferred.

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

  • Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and access confined spaces.

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work with hands and tools for extended periods.

  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor job sites.
