F/F Maintenance Worker, $19.66/hour

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

A maintenance worker does various types of work from one or more of the following skilled trades of welding, machining, mechanics, carpentry or masonry. This work is done on factory, automotive and field equipment and facilities.

1. Does simple layout work; prepares materials.
2. Welding: Weld parts; uses oxy/acetylene cutting torch; fabricates parts needed in the installation, maintenance and repair of factory, shop & field equipment or facilities; is fully familiar with the proper operation of various types of equipment used in welding such as punch machine, shears, drill sharpener, saws, etc.
3. Machining: Machines parts; uses metal lathe, milling machine; fabricates parts needed in the installation, maintenance and repair of factory, shop & field equipment or facilities; is fully familiar with the proper operation of various types of equipment used in machining such as drill press, drill sharpener, hydraulic press, etc.
4. Mechanic: Assembles, installs, maintains & repairs factory, shop & field equipment, machinery and facilities; uses forklift, chainfall, wrenches, etc.; is fully familiar with the proper operation of various types of equipment used in mechanics such as ruler, caliper, air impact wrench, bearing pullers, gauges, drill, hydraulic jack, etc.
5. Carpentry: Assembles, installs, maintains & repairs factory, shop & field equipment, machinery and facilities; used forklift, scaffolding; prepares & cuts lumber, sheeting, gypsum board, roofing iron, etc.; uses hammer, level, square, power saw, etc.; is fully familiar with the proper operations of various types of equipment used in carpentry such as a belt sander, pneumatic nailer, drill, router, etc.
6. Masonry: Assembles, installs, maintains & repairs factory, shop & field facilities; uses forklift, scaffolding; prepares & cuts form lumber, angle iron, wire mesh, etc.; uses hammer, level, square, trowel, power saw, concrete saw and drill, etc.; is fully familiar with the proper operation of various types of equipment used in masonry such as portable cement mixer, bull float, whirlybird, etc.
7. Drives automobile and trucks; checks vehicle to see that it is in proper working condition.
8. Cleans working area.
9. Observes standard safety regulations.
10. Does other related work as required by supervisor.
