Job Description
This position is responsible for the correct, safe, and efficient operation of all sorting, washing, drying, finishing, and shipping functions of the laundry.
REPORTS TO PLANT MANAGER
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Assist the Plant Manager in scheduling adequate staff to produce required workload daily.
· Supervise soil sorters, washer operators, cart washers to maintain required productivity and compliance with safety regulations.
· Monitor CBW’s, dryers, washer/extractors to maintain correct loading sequence to attain maximum productivity and washing performance from the tunnels.
· Interface with chemicals technician to ensure proper loading, chemistry, and other factors related to correct and efficient washing and drying.
· Communicate effectively with all other incoming Supervisors regarding anticipated potential bottle-neck areas, troubled area is daily.
· Confirm and or train operators of all equipment to ensure consistent performance and their safety.
· Communicate with all new hires the requirements of their specific job.
· Maintain department in clean, orderly, safe fashion.
· Attention to detail.
· May perform other duties as required or instructed.
EVALUATION FACTORS:
· Washroom produces prescribed quantity and quality as mutually agreed-upon with 1st shift Supervisor and Chemicals Technician
· Personnel comply with all PPE guidelines as well as all other company personnel policies.
· Utilize chemical and energy usage to achieve budgeted guidelines.
· Articles requiring specialized (reclaim, tape, etc.) are promptly and properly processed.
· Soiled linen carts are completely washed, casters are cleaned, carts needing repair are properly marked and routed to the Maintenance Department
· Attention to detail, “Special Handling, etc.”
· Safe and productive work force
PERSONAL TRAITS:
· Good organizational characteristics and the ability to motivate and train staff are prime requisites for the successful performance in this position.
· Clear thinking to learn tunnel washing characteristics and chemistry is necessary
· This position required pro-active thinking to accommodate occasional mechanical, chemical, energy or linen inventory problems in order to provide a consistent flow of properly washed products to the finishing department.
· 3 Years of manufacturing supervision
