Job Description
Production Baker
Compensation: $18-25/hour (based on experience)
Location: 196 Quincy Street, Dorchester, MA

About Beacon Hill Bakery:
Beacon Hill Bakery handcrafts the finest artisanal Polish pastries in the world using techniques perfected at El Celler de Can Roca (named World's Best Restaurant, 2013 & 2015). We obsess about quality and honor centuries of baking heritage. Learn more at www.beaconhillbakery.com.
Role Overview:
We’re moving production into a commercial kitchen and need a baker who can take ownership of our bake schedule with precision and care. We're seeking a detail-obsessed baker to prepare and produce our pastries and breads. This is a hands-on, traditional baking. Most of what we make is shaped, braided, and finished by hand rather than by machine. You'll be working across multiple items in progress at once: mixing one dough while another proofs, shaping while something else bakes, switching between tasks while keeping timing and quality tight on everything. You'll be trained directly by our 3 Michelin star-trained founder and will work independently once trained.
Schedule:
- Thursday afternoons/evenings: 4 hours
- Friday mornings: 3 hours (6am - 9am)
- Saturday mornings: 3 hours (6am-9am)
- Sunday mornings: 3 hours (6am - 9am)
Hours will grow quickly as we scale production at this location. Morning shifts start at 6am and will move earlier (to 5am) after several months as we ramp up volume.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience with braiding, hand-shaping, laminating, or folding doughs, or experience crimping pierogi are strong pluses, but not required if you are a fast learner with strong fundamentals
- Comfortable with hands-on, repetitive, precise work,
- Able to juggle multiple tasks in progress without losing track of timing or quality
- Reliable, on time, and earnest, every shift, no exceptions
- Cares about doing the job well. We’re building something we’re proud of, and we need people who care about making food at the highest quality as well!!!
- English is not required
- Maintain impeccable cleanliness and food safety standards
- Some who is ServSafe Manager Certified is a strong plus
Growth:
If you don’t already have it, we’ll pay for your ServSafe Manager Certification once you’ve completed your training period. As we grow, this role can grow into more hours and more responsibility, including running production independently and hiring a staff of bakers who report to you.
