TITLE: Work Program/Student

POSITION OBJECTIVE: To gain exposure to US manufacturing processes as a Technical Engineer through a one-year internship program. Understand and support production goals for assigned area, address and find possible solutions to production, support department needs, and provide technical support to related departments. The intern will gain knowledge about PE blown film processing and ASTM mechanical quality testing and how a manufacturing plant operates.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a current college student enrolled in the Chemical or Material Engineering field
  • Must have chemical/material engineer basic knowledge such as general chemistry, physics, organic chemistry, thermodynamics, unit operation, chemical kinetics, polymer science, etc.
  • Ensure consistent, dependable attendance and demonstrate a willingness to accommodate non-standard work hours as necessary
  • Capable of effectively managing job-related stress and fostering productive workplace interactions

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help engineers with any jobs related to new process/product/formulation development, and product quality assurance
  • Help engineers to improve existing process/product/formulation improvement projects
  • Help engineers with trial run process; collect data and samples for a trial run
  • Learn and understand product specification, formulation, and quality standard set-up
  • Study and understand all raw materials characteristics and properties, raw material selection and qualification
  • Collect and monitor Standard Operation Conditions (SOC) for future reference
  • If necessary, help engineers with process support and troubleshooting with production
  • Carry out job duties and projects assigned by Senior Director of Technical, QA/QC or Technical Engineers
  • Perform necessary tests for products on physical properties (i.e. trial run, daily production, customer, competitor, customer complaint sample). Analyze the data and provide valuable information for future improvement
  • If necessary, help on any issues related to improvement projects
  • Write quarterly reports about internship
