Step into a pivotal role supporting young learners by providing specialized psychological services in a dynamic educational environment. A school district near Elkhart, IN is seeking an experienced, on-site School Psychologist to focus on Pre-K students during the academic year running from August 14, 2026 through June 4, 2027. This contract opportunity offers direct work with First Step Transition students, helping them build essential school readiness and social-emotional skills through evidence-based behavioral intervention.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid license or certification as a School Psychologist
  • Experience working with early childhood or Pre-K populations preferred
  • Familiarity with First Step Transition programs is a plus
  • Strong background in behavioral intervention and early childhood assessment
  • Exceptional collaboration skills for multidisciplinary teamwork
  • Ability to manage a caseload of approximately 70 students
  • Comfortable conducting preschool evaluations alongside a team including OT, PT, SLP, Autism Consultant, and nursing staff
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with teachers, families, and caregivers

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provide First Step Transition behavioral intervention services for Pre-K students to promote positive classroom behavior and social-emotional development
  • Implement behavioral coaching, teacher consultation, progress monitoring, and family collaboration initiatives
  • Conduct preschool evaluations in partnership with multidisciplinary staff for new students and families over two-day sessions
  • Support children and their caregivers with early behavioral intervention strategies and transition planning as they enter the school setting
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teams, caregivers, and specialized school staff in a preschool environment serving children with a range of needs

This position entails primarily on-site work at a preschool location dedicated to serving students with special needs and abilities. The typical weekly commitment is 35 hours, with occasional flexibility required.
