Job Title: Solar Service Technician
Job Description
The Solar Field Service Technician will maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and commission Solar Photovoltaic (PV), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations, and additional legacy projects throughout the greater Central and Coastal California area. The successful candidate will perform system inspections (preventative maintenance), DC and AC corrective maintenance (live work when necessary), manufacturer warranty claims, and may assist on solar and/or energy storage system installations as needed.
Responsibilities
- Strive to ensure proper operation of PV, BESS, and EV systems to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through excellent customer service.
- Complete all online training for certifications to manage manufacturer relationships and warranties.
- Utilize the software and systems in place to effectively communicate resolutions and/or next steps for each serviced project site.
- Conduct field services to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial/industrial PV and BESS AC/DC electrical, mechanical, data acquisition systems, and IT components.
- Perform quality assurance inspections of completed installations (preventative maintenance).
- Keep accurate and detailed maintenance records including all work performed and materials used using the processes set in place by Service Advisor and/or Project Management.
- Assist with developing maintenance programs, and provide accurate and timely inspection reports.
- Manage personal inventory of parts and equipment needed for service calls.
- Ensure that all work performed is in compliance with company safety standards, manufacturer best practices, and all applicable codes and regulations.
- Complete non-service related tasks on occasion, such as assisting with the scope of ongoing construction projects.
- Handle confidential data professionally.
- Perform start-up and commissioning for new PV/storage installations, configure DAS, and monitor performance levels as needed.
- Additional tasks as assigned by the management team(s).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a solar technician
- At least 2 years experience installing solar and/or energy storage systems or performing electrical troubleshooting preferred.
- Experience with SolarEdge equipment, or equivalent systems with micro-inverters is preferred.
- Project management software experience preferred.
- Experience with Scissor and Aerial lifts is a plus.
- Experience with energy efficiencies including but not limited to, HVAC and lighting.
- SolarEdge and LG trainings and certifications preferred.
- Experience with PDF editor, Google Docs and Sheets (or Word and Excel), and general computer experience.
Work Environment
The role involves regular exposure to typical construction site conditions, including dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noise. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required. The physical tasks include climbing ladders, transporting materials, accessing high places, carrying materials, and working in proximity to moving mechanical parts. Frequent bending, reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 20 lbs. or more is required. A flexible schedule is necessary as weekend and extended workdays may be required.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
