Job Description
This role supports fabrication and manufacturing operations by performing high-quality MIG and TIG welding on sheet metal and structural components in accordance with engineering drawings, welding specifications, and established quality and safety standards. The position requires strong technical welding skills, precise blueprint interpretation, and consistent attention to detail to ensure reliable, production-ready welds.
Responsibilities- Perform MIG and TIG welding on sheet metal and structural steel components in a production environment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings to determine weld size, location, and sequence.
- Set up welding equipment and adjust parameters based on material type, thickness, and welding process requirements.
- Select appropriate filler metals and welding consumables according to job specifications and material properties.
- Conduct visual weld inspections and use weld gauges and measuring instruments to verify weld size, alignment, and quality.
- Maintain weld quality standards while meeting production schedules and throughput requirements.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and correct welding defects by adjusting techniques, parameters, or setup as needed.
- Perform basic fabrication and fit-up work, including fitting, grinding, and assembly, to prepare components for welding.
- Work with stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals as required by the job.
- Use tools such as tape measures and other measuring devices to ensure accurate layout and fit-up.
- Follow welding codes, procedures, and company quality standards to ensure consistent and compliant welds.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area, including proper handling and storage of tools and materials.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures, including proper use of PPE and safe operation of welding and fabrication equipment.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve issues, support production goals, and improve processes.
- Demonstrate reliable attendance and strong work habits to support continuous production operations.
- 3–5 years of MIG and TIG welding experience.
- Proficiency welding sheet metal and structural steel components.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings.
- Experience setting up welding equipment and selecting proper welding parameters for various materials and thicknesses.
- Ability to select appropriate filler materials and welding consumables based on job requirements.
- Experience performing visual weld inspections and using weld gauges and measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of weld inspection techniques and welding quality standards.
- Strong attention to detail, quality, and workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a production environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with fabrication tools and equipment.
- Excellent attendance, reliability, and commitment to safety.
- AWS welding certification preferred.
- Experience welding stainless steel and aluminum.
- Experience with flux core welding processes.
- Ability to perform fabrication and fit-up work, including fitting, grinding, and assembly.
- Knowledge of welding codes and documented welding procedures.
- Experience working from drawings with limited supervision.
- Background in a manufacturing or fabrication facility.
- Comfort working with production-focused processes and meeting schedule requirements.
- Ability to use a tape measure and other measuring tools accurately.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Work EnvironmentThe position is based in a manufacturing and fabrication facility with exposure to welding equipment, sparks, heat, and metal materials. Employees initially interview and work at one Texas facility for training and onboarding, then transition to another facility as operations move, with an additional hourly travel premium provided while assigned to the initial site. The role involves standing, bending, lifting, and welding throughout the shift in a fast-paced production environment focused on quality and safety. Personal protective equipment, including welding hood, gloves, eye protection, and safety footwear, is required at all times. The workplace promotes a team-oriented atmosphere with strong craftsmanship standards and modern fabrication tools and technologies supporting daily operations.
