Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown (Cardiovascular Unit)

\n ⚠️ Traveler Eligibility: Candidates must reside more than 35 miles from the facility to qualify for the travel rate.
\n Location: Petoskey, Michigan
\n Facility: McLaren Northern Michigan – Cardiovascular Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (CVU)
\n Position: Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown
\n Assignment Type: Travel Contract
\n Duration: 13 Weeks
\n Start Date: August 10, 2026
\n Shift: Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (3x12s)
\n Guaranteed Hours: 36 Hours/Week
\n Weekend Requirement: Every Other Weekend
\n On-Call: Possible
\n Floating: Required to similar units

\n Job Summary

\n We are seeking an experienced Stepdown Registered Nurse to join its award-winning Cardiovascular Unit (CVU). This 28-bed progressive care unit provides specialized care for cardiac, cardiovascular, and post-operative patients, including those recovering from open-heart surgery and advanced cardiac procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong cardiac assessment skills, Stepdown experience, and prior travel nursing experience.

\n Responsibilities
\n Provide comprehensive nursing care to Stepdown and cardiovascular patients.
\n Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, telemetry, and EKG findings.
\n Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.
\n Care for patients recovering from cardiovascular procedures, including PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, pacemaker implantation, and open-heart surgery.
\n Administer medications, IV therapies, and cardiac-related treatments.
\n Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
\n Respond promptly to changes in patient condition using sound clinical judgment.
\n Maintain accurate and timely documentation while following facility policies and evidence-based practice.
\n Float to similar units as needed based on patient care requirements.
\n Requirements
\n Active Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) License
\n Minimum 1 year of Stepdown nursing experience
\n Strong cardiac nursing proficiency
\n Previous travel nursing experience required
\n Comfortable interpreting and monitoring EKGs/Telemetry
\n Willingness to float to similar units
\n BLS and ACLS certifications required
