Description\n

American Traveler is hiring a Level III NICU RN for a night shift assignment requiring at least 3 years of Level III NICU experience and a CA RN license.

  • Level III Neonatal ICU setting within an acute care hospital
  • \n
  • Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
  • \n
  • Weekend rotation required
  • \n
  • On-call responsibilities required
  • \n
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • \n
  • Floating required between sister facilities as needed
  • \n
  • Uses Epic for charting
  • \n
  • Patient population includes neonates 29-34 weeks gestation
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active CA RN license (Compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
  • \n
  • BLS and NRP certifications required
  • \n
  • Minimum 3 years of Level III NICU experience required
  • \n
  • Epic charting experience required
  • \n
  • Skills required: IV therapy, administration of blood and blood products, arterial line management, central line blood draws, starting/maintaining IVs, UAC and UVC management
  • \n
  • Experience with neonatal emergency medications, antibiotics/antivirals, neonatal dosage calculations, steroids, and surfactants
  • \n
  • Experience with APGAR scoring, developmental care, patient/family teaching, phlebotomy, and thermoregulation
  • \n
  • Experience attending high-risk deliveries
  • \n
  • Experience with blood glucose monitoring, hyperbilirubinemia management, insulin administration, and phototherapy
  • \n
  • Experience with breastfeeding support, handling of breast milk, and gavage/oral/nasogastric feeding placement and management
  • \n
  • Experience with Bubble CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, chest tube management, meconium aspiration, oxygen delivery systems, and respiratory distress syndrome care
  • \n
  • Experience with isolation precautions/PPE, neonatal sepsis recognition, and sepsis work-up
  • \n
  • Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty required
  • \n
  • Full SSN and DOB required for consideration
  • \n
Additional Information\n
    \n
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level III NICU setting
  • \n
  • Must be willing to float between sister facilities within the health system
  • \n
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • \n
  • All RTO requests must be submitted upfront at time of submission; post-offer RTO requests may not be granted
  • \n
  • Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
  • \n
  • Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and cannot reside within 50 miles of the facility
  • \n
  • Must disclose any prior work history with the health system, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles, with location and dates
  • \n
  • Scrub color requirement: royal blue or navy blue for RNs
  • \n
  • Free parking available on-site
  • \n
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
