Description\n

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor and Delivery position requiring a PA or Compact RN license and prior L&D nursing experience.

Details\n

\n
• Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a hospital setting
\n
• Facility handles 200-300 births per month
\n
• Rotating shift schedule between night (3x12, 19:00-7:00) and day (3x12, 7:00-19:00) shifts
\n
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2
\n
• Cerner EMR experience preferred
\n
• Floating required within the hospital and to sister facilities within a 10-mile radius as needed
\n
• Candidates must be available to work every other holiday
\n

Requirements\n

\n
• Active PA or Compact RN license required
\n
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience required
\n
• Current certifications: BLS, NRP, FHM, and AWHONN Intermediate (AWHONN Advanced preferred)
\n
• AHA certifications only accepted
\n
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
\n
• Skills required include IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central line maintenance
\n
• Experience assisting with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and hemorrhage/shock management
\n
• Competency in fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal monitoring and IUPC placement
\n
• Experience caring for patients with high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, and multiple gestation
\n
• Postpartum care skills including fundus/lochia/perineum care and wound assessment
\n

Additional Information\n

\n
• Provide comprehensive labor and delivery nursing care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management
\n
• Support neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and neonatal resuscitation
\n
• Assist with newborn care including car seat education, cord care, and discharge teaching to parents
\n
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
\n
• Provide pain management support including epidural and PCA administration
\n
• Travel pairs accepted based on facility need, though the same schedule cannot be guaranteed
\n
• Former permanent employees of the facility are not eligible to return as travelers
\n
• Local candidates accepted at the travel rate
\n
• Fingerprinting, drug screening, and required labs must be completed within 24-48 hours of signing
\n
• All compliance requirements must be cleared by the Wednesday prior to the start date
\n
