\nShift: 12-Hour Night Shift (1900β0730) | 36 Hours/Week
\nWeekend Rotation: Every Other Weekend (EOW)
\nHoliday Requirements: 50% of holidays per contract
\nOn-Call: Low census call only (Up to 36 hours max per contract)
\nOrientation: Nursing Employee Orientation (NEO) + One 12-hour unit floor orientation
π Job Overview\nWe are seeking an adaptable MedSurg/Tele Registered Nurse for a travel contract in Cudahy, WI. This position balances cross-coverage between the 2 MESG and 3 MESG units. With an average daily census of 20β22 patients across a 28-bed floor capacity, this facility offers a tight-knit, collaborative team environment.

- EMR: EPIC \n
- IV Pumps: Alaris \n
- Medication Dispensing: Pyxis \n
- Telemetry: Centralized telemetry unit staffed by Tele Techs, featuring a central display at the nurse's station. \n
- Specialty Equipment: Comprehensive patient lift systems, including ceiling lifts. \n
- \n
- Patient Ratios: Days: 1:4β5 | Nights: 1:6β7 (1:8 is possible but rare) . \n
- Patient Population: Primarily geriatric patients presenting with complex multi-system medical needs. \n
- Cardiac/Neuro Care: Manage CHF, chest pain observation, seizure obs, stroke obs, TIA rule-outs, and altered mental status. (Note: No on-site Cath Lab; critical cardiac extensions are stabilized and transferred to St. Luke's MC) . \n
- General Medicine: Care for COPD and acute respiratory, kidney, liver, or GI conditions. \n
- Skills Required: NG tube placement/management, foley placement, chest tubes, PleurX and specialized surgical drains, wound care, and blood draws via central lines, midlines, and ports. \n
- Cardiac Rhythms & Drips: Competently interpret cardiac rhythms. Titrate drips within established parameters for Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Insulin. \n

- CNAs on Unit: Nights 1:7β8 | Days 1:5β6. (Assist with ambulation, ADLs, vitals, I/Os, fingersticks, and are certified to remove peripheral IVs). \n
- Charge Nurse: Readily available on-shift with a reduced patient assignment. \n
- Unit Secretary (HUC): Dedicated on-unit clerical support until 2300. \n
- Additional Teams: 24/7 Phlebotomy for peripheral draws, 24/7 RT, 24/7 Hospitalists, and daytime OT/PT/Speech Therapy. \n

- Travelers are expected to float where MedSurg patients are located, including alternative MedSurg floors, ED holds, or lower-acuity patients boarded in the ICU. You will only be given standard MedSurg level patient assignments. \n
- \n
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of dedicated MedSurg/Tele RN experience. First-time travelers are warmly accepted. \n
- Licensure: Active Wisconsin or Compact RN License. \n
- Certifications: BLS and NIHSS are strictly required. ACLS is preferred. \n
- \n
- Scrub Policy: Any professional, solid color scrubs. No graphics, logos, denim, or patterned designs. \n
- Parking: Free employee parking lot on-site. \n
- Schedule Cycle: Managed in 6-week blocks, released roughly 3 weeks in advance. \n
- Interview Process: Initial profile submission followed by a prompt secondary interview directly with the Unit Manager. \n
