15E James - Acute Leukemia and Hematology - 12 D/N or 12 N - CHEMO CERTIFICATION REQUIRED!!!

\n Experience: Must have MS oncology and at least 1 inpatient hematology oncology experience in work history and checklist. A minimum of two years of overall nursing experience is required

\n First Time travelers: NO
\n Patient Age Group: Adults, Geriatrics
\n Patient Diagnoses: Primarily care for newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients
\n Medical unit - high number of blood products, IV antibiotics and electrolytes.
\n Staffing Ratios: Goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5
\n Weekends: Variable based on unit needs
\n Schedule: No set/blocked scheduling. Self-schedule requests accepted to accommodate preferred schedules before finalizing.
\n Orientation: First week: Mon-Fri dayshift. Second week: 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor.

\n If you accept a 12D/N rotating contract, you may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination of both, depending on the department’s needs. Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period, but changes are not guaranteed and are based on staffing priorities at that time.

\n Special Focus:
\n • Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols
\n • Patient falls prevention

\n Certifications Required:
\n • BLS
\n • ACLS
\n •ONS Chemo Cert

\n Certifications Preferred:
\n • NIHSS

\n Skills Required:
\n • MS/Tele
\n • Telemetry
\n • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
\n • Telemetry monitoring
\n • Use of Rapid Response Teams
\n • Feeding tube care and management
\n • IV therapy/Phlebotomy
\n • Blood Product Administration
\n • Central line blood draw
\n • Peripheral Line Care/Management
\n • PICC line management
\n • Starting IVs
\n Computerized Charting: EPIC
