About this job
Lead the Team That Keeps Freight Moving
Second Shift Dock Supervisor
Are you the person who naturally takes charge, keeps a cool head under pressure, and can't stand watching things run inefficiently? We need a Second Shift Dock Supervisor who thrives on solving problems in real time and building a team that has each other's backs.
This isn't a desk job. You'll be the hub of communication between drivers, dock crews, and customers — making sure freight moves where it needs to go, when it needs to be there. If you're a natural multitasker with sharp instincts and a "we, not me" mindset, we want to talk to you.
What You'll Own
- Supervising and coordinating the dock crew — loading, unloading, and moving freight safely and efficiently
- Dispatching and scheduling pickups and deliveries to keep customer commitments on track
- Training and mentoring new team members
- Digging into daily/weekly metrics to spot bottlenecks and drive efficiency
- Keeping operations compliant with company standards and procedures
- Maintaining a clean, safe environment for your crew and visiting customers
What You Bring
- 1+ year of dispatch or transportation experience
- Strong communication skills — you can talk to drivers, customers, and leadership with equal ease
- Comfort making decisions independently, without someone looking over your shoulder
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office; CLI and Acordex experience a plus
- Familiarity with the Chicagoland area
- Bachelor's degree preferred, but we care more about what you can do than what's on paper
Why You'll Want to Stick Around
- Real ownership of second shift operations — your decisions matter here
- A team-first culture where good ideas get heard, regardless of title
- Room to grow into larger operations leadership roles
Ready to run a shift where your leadership actually shows? Apply today.
