Behavioral Health Technician

Position Title: Behavioral Health Technician (BHT)

Location: Agoura Hills, CA
Schedule: Full-Time Available
Compensation: $24 per hour 

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) plays a key role in supporting the safety, structure, and overall therapeutic environment of clients receiving care in a mental health residential treatment setting. The BHT works closely with the clinical and medical teams to monitor clients, assist with daily routines, and ensure a secure, recovery-focused atmosphere during all phases of treatment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor clients through regular rounds and maintain awareness of their behavior, safety, and needs
• Conduct and document room checks, client observations, and shift reports accurately and on time
• Support clients with daily activities, including hygiene, mealtimes, and transitions between groups
• Assist with new client admissions, orientations, and discharges
• Escort clients to appointments or off-site programming when needed
• Respond to crisis situations and escalate concerns to clinical/medical staff appropriately
• Maintain a clean, orderly facility environment and report any safety or maintenance concerns
• Enforce facility rules and boundaries while maintaining a professional and supportive approach
• Support group activities, meal times, and community responsibilities as directed
• Work collaboratively with the treatment team to provide consistent, compassionate care

Shifts Available:

• Swing Shift: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
• Overnight Shift: 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in a behavioral health, detox, or residential treatment setting preferred
• CPR/First Aid certification required
• Strong communication and observation skills
• Ability to remain calm in high-stress or crisis situations
• Familiarity with EMRs (e.g., Kipu) is a plus
• Must be reliable, punctual, and able to work scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
